The Center for Health Innovation will be co-sponsoring this morning symposium on first responder and community resilience issues on Long Island. In conjunction with the Nassau County Department of Human Services, Nassau County Office of Emergency Management, and Team Rubicon, this symposium will address first responder disaster issues that are specific to Long Island.
There will be three facilitated discussions on the following topics:
- First Responder Mental Health Issues, post disaster in their own communities
- Building more resilient communities through strong local preparedness
- Utilizing veterans in response and rebuilding efforts
Mr. Griffin will be facilitating a panel of three experts on veterans employment and resiliency. The panel will discuss the transferability of veterans skills to the civilian workforce in the area of emergency response and community resiliency. The panel discussion will focus on the things veterans have done in this area, the programs to assist them and the challenges communities face with regard to emergency preparedness.
